Power Supply Unit Fan to Computer Case Fan?
Alright I have an Aspire Blue Plastic Blue LED POWER SUPPLY fan and I want to rig it as a case fan. It is a 12v fan and from what i read it sounds like i can splice the red wire to a yellow molex to get the 12v and then the black to the ground but I dont want to burn out a PSU so is it possible to thread it into a molex?
No, don't do that. On a molex connector, the red wire is +5V, the two blacks are grounds and the yellow is +12V. You'll want to use the yellow (+12V) and a black (ground). In todays systems, yellow is always +12V. This will show you the different voltages used for the different types of power supply connectors .
